Our Guidelines and Tips for Best Web Design

We constantly find and study the best information on web design, after which we incorporate what we learn into the pages we create.

The list below contains important guidelines we follow when designing pages for high usability and "making them search-engine friendly" (also known as Search Engine Optimization or SEO).

The list is updated whenever there are important new developments in web design principles.

This list was last updated on October 28, 2006 :

  • The website should be simple. Pages should not have too many links since this causes a proportionate amount of confusion in visitors
  • Design for a 1024 x 768 screen
  • Use plenty of white space
  • Present information in clusters
  • Do not use large graphics or  Flash, they slow down page loading
  • Use sans-serif fonts like Verdana or Arial in at least 10 point size
  • On a given page, have only one navigation bar
  • On a given page, only have one link to a particular destination
  • Put the most important links in the main content area
  • The most important links should be blue and should be underlined
  • Links should be worded such that visitors know where they lead
  • Important information should be visible without scrolling
  • Buttons should have a 3D look
